Ann H. Smith is a Partner in the Raleigh/Durham office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Ms. Smith has practiced employment law since 1996 and has handled a wide variety of employment matters before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. Ms. Smith has represented and advised Fortune 250 companies as well as governmental entities. Ms. Smith’s litigation experience includes general employment law disputes involving claims pursuant to the ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and Title VII. Ms. Smith has also represented numerous public entities and is well-versed in immunity issues. Ms. Smith is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association as well as the Employment law section of the Defense Rsearch Institute. She previously has served on the Professionalism Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. In 2002, Ms. Smith was been recognized as an Outstanding Volunteer by the Wake County Volunteer Lawyers Program. She is a frequent speaker before business and employer associations, including the North Carolina League of Municipalities, the North Carolina Municipal Attorney’s Association and the International Public Management Association for Human Resources. Ms. Smith co-authored "Damages, Damages, Damages! Damages Issues and Practical Strategies for Damages Containment," for the Defense Research Institute Employment Law Seminar Manuscript in 2003. Ms. Smith is admitted to practice in all North Carolina State Courts. She is also admitted to practice in all U.S. District Courts in North Carolina as well as the Fourth Circuit. Ms. Smith received her B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from North Carolina State University and her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of the Holderness Moot Court.
